Sarah's death is reg. # 7254/1872 Craft, Sarah Age 88 years died Wollombi. Born c 1784, England, Sarah was tried at Chester Assizes on 8.10. 1799 and transported for 7 years per "Earl Cornwallis", a ship built in London in 1783, weighing 784 tons, sailing from England on 18th November 1800 and arriving in Port Jackson 12th June 1801. The Ship's Master was James Tennant. The journey lasted 206 days. Of the 193 male and 95 female convicts who embarked on the "Earl Corwallis", there were 27 male and 8 female deaths reported. Sarah had a child, Mary to William Spear, a soldier who also arrived per “Earl Cornwallis”. We next find Sarah with James Peaulet ( many variations of spelling) per “Scarborough” FF 1788. A child, also named Sarah, was born to this partnership followed by a son James. Sarah Robinson married Joseph Craft on 24th April 1810 in St Phillips C of E Sydney. They had six children before Joseph died in June of 1839. On 7th September 1840, Sarah married Joseph Dorkings (V1840570 24B - C of E, Brisbane Water) per “Morley” 1818. She died on 7th March 1872 and is buried at Wollombi. Sarah’s children were : To William Spear ; 1. Mary Spear (Craft) b.6.6.1802, m. 7.9.1818 to Price Morris. She died 14.3.1888 at St Albans. To James Peaulet ; 2. Sarah Peaulet (Craft) bc 1804, m1. 6.2.1820 to William Webb, m2. 5.6.1871 to William Dixon. She died 2.11.1872 at Ellalong. 3. James Peaulet b.19.5.1807. He died on 26.8.1810. To Joseph Craft ; 4. Joseph Craft b.19.11.1809, m. 7.9.1840 to Frances Douglass nee Caroll. He died 11.4.1889 at Murrundi. 5. Edward Craft b.27.3.1812 Windsor, m. 30.4.1834 to Mary Herps (nee Yardley / Purvey). He died at Belmont. 6. William Craft b.19.7.1814 Wilberforce, m. 28.11.1837 to Rebecca Woodbury. He died 23.3.1901 at Mangrove. 7. James Craft b.16.9.1817 Windsor, m. 27.7.1840 to Ann Woodbury. He died 8.8.1854 at Wollombi. 8. Susannah Craft b.22.2.1820 Mangrove, m.7.10.1835 to Benjamin Bridge. She died 18.7.1910 at Ellalong. 9. Phillis Craft b.11.4.1825 Mangrove, m.15.11.1841 to Isaac Crump. She died 22.9.1862 at Wollombi. To Joseph Dorkings ; Nil |
